We cooked a turkey for Christmas Eve and it turned out so good I needed to write down what I did.  I put salt, pepper, poultry seasoning and 2 small onions inside the turkey, then brushed it with melted butter.  I cooked it at 325 for 4 hours and basted it several times.  I covered it with a foil tent and cooked it another hour.  It was very moist and flavorful.  I mostly followed the recipe for roasted turkey in the Fanny Farmer cookbook.
